NEW YORK — President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and close adviser Jared Kushner will host a one-off meeting in New York City on Tuesday with a Russian lawyer, according to an Axios report.
Kushner’s team is reportedly asking for a $5 million budget to host the event.
A source close to Kushner told Axios that the meeting will take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Fifth Avenue.
The Trump campaign declined to comment.
Trump Jr.’s spokesman, Hope Hicks, confirmed the meeting.
The meeting is reportedly a first for Kushner, who was not previously listed as an attendee on the invitation.
The White House declined to confirm or deny the existence of the meeting, citing the ongoing investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election and any potential conflicts of interest.
Trump has denied any wrongdoing, calling the claims against him politically motivated.
Kushner has also been linked to the Trump campaign and was previously a senior adviser to the president.
He has been an important member of Trump’s inner circle, as well as an unofficial adviser to some of the president’s most trusted aides.
