The Miami Dolphins have given star wide receiver Jenna Jewella the nude back for the upcoming season, per the team.
The Dolphins announced the news Wednesday night on the team’s official website.
Jewell’s release comes after the franchise signed receiver Demarcus Ayers in March and signed free-agent running back David Johnson last month.
With Ayers and Johnson gone, the Dolphins will have to use their $1.2 million signing bonus to fill Jewell on the roster.
The team is expected to have more than 20 players on the active roster for the first time since the 2011 season, and the only players who could potentially be cut from the roster are cornerback Laremy Tunsil and defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh.
The NFL Players Association and NFL Players United have called for the league to change the salary cap in order to limit the number of players that can be cut and to increase the amount of money teams can earn.
It’s unclear how the Dolphins plan to address that issue, but they may choose to use a “loophole” to allow players to be cut without being subject to the salary-cap limit.
